Pilot Projects

Stepping Stones:

The Stepping Stones demonstration project builds upon lessons learned from the emergency partnership formed in December 2021 in response to the Extended Foster Care (EFC) “Housing Cliff.” Over a two-year period, the project will provide up to 20 bridge housing beds for youth exiting DCFS care without a secure housing plan, seeking to prove the effectiveness of this innovative model at reducing homelessness among former foster youth.

Project HopeBridge:

Project HopeBridge is a rapid rehousing and workforce development pilot serving transition-age youth ages 21+ exiting foster care in Service Planning Area (SPA) 6. The goal of this program is to foster long-term independence via housing support, pre-employment training, and connections to jobs/careers.
